Cummins Builds Two-Millionth Ram Diesel for Chrysler Group

December 9, 2012 Cummins Inc. has produced its 2-millionth diesel engine for Ram Trucks, highlighting the latest milestone in a storied partnership that spans four decades. The 350-horsepower, 6.7-liter, in-line 6-cylinder turbo diesel is distinguished by its “Cummins Red” rocker cover and breather. But despite its 800 lb.-ft. peak torque rating, the historic engine – feted today at a Cummins plant in Columbus, Ind. – will not see service. Instead, it will go on display, touring the U.S.

Tigershark Engine Family, New Transmissions Mark Turning Point for Chrysler Group

At that time, Chrysler Group’s shortest interval between program approval and production launch was about 115 weeks (for the 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8). One Millionth Chrysler Pentastar V-6 Engine Produced at Trenton Engine

New Eight-speed Transmission Introduced by Chrysler

August 31, 2011 The first eight-speed automatic transmission in a domestically produced automobile will mark its debut on both the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger for 2012. The new eight-speed automatic, introduced and licensed through ZF and often found on high-end luxury cars including Audi, Bentley, BMW, Range Rover and Rolls Royce, will be available on selected models of the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. Initially, the transmission will be mated exclusively to the award-winning 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine that was introduced last year.
